Bart M. Schwartz

Bart M. Schwartz is a founder and the chairman of Guidepost Solutions. For more than 30 years, Mr. Schwartz has managed sensitive and complex matters for a wide array of clients, including government agencies, international corporations, and not-for-profits. He served as chairman of the Compliance Committee and a member of the Audit Committee of the board of HMS Holdings Corp. (NASDAQ:HMSY). He served as the first chairman of the Board of the public biopharma company KADMON. He also serves on the Board of Directors for philanthropic organizations, including the Police Athletic League of New York City where he is President, as well as the Stuyvesant High School Alumni Board of Directors. Mr. Schwartz was appointed as the Receiver of a Madoff feeder fund valued at $1.2 billion. It had been valued at $1.8 billion before the fraud was discovered. Mr. Schwartz managed the fund, over saw affirmative litigation, negotiated with numerous parties and eventually recovered $800 million for the victims and distributed $2 billion. Federal and other regulators have appointed him to such positions as the Safety Monitor of General Motors, the Monitor of British Petroleum, Monitor of Steven Cohen’s hedge fund and most recently as the Federal Monitor of the New York City Housing Authority for five years, an Authority housing over 500,000 people in over 2300 buildings on over 300 development campuses. He is a former Chief of the Criminal Division of the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York. Mr. Schwartz holds a Bachelors Degree from the University of Pittsburgh and J.D from New York University School of Law.
